Beaver Creek seeks community support for street banners

Lead Summary
By
Lori Sorenson

Beaver Creek City Council members are arranging for new welcome banners, and they’re looking for sponsors to adopt street poles to pay for them.
The 18-by-45-inch banners are the same size as the existing “Welcome to Beaver Creek” banners, which means existing hardware can be used for most replacements.
The artwork, designed by Quality Printing in Luverne, features a red-and-blue Patriot, which is the Hills-Beaver Creek School District mascot, and space at the bottom is reserved for the sponsoring business, organization or family.
Banners will be displayed on First Avenue and Fourth Street, which have about 20 poles, and many have already expressed interest in sponsoring banners.
At their Nov. 18 meeting, council members discussed the possibility that there could be more interested sponsors than there are poles on First Avenue and Fourth Street.
If that happens, they said banners could be extended to poles on nearby streets or two banners could be hung on a pole, facing each other on each side of the pole.
Letters will be mailed to local businesses and organizations to seek sponsorships, and banners will be ordered this winter to be hung next spring.
To sponsor a banner in Beaver Creek costs $125, which covers the material and additional hardware if needed.
