When the Luverne High School Marching Band finishes performing in Saturday’s Buffalo Days parade, the 70-member group will leave for a seven-day trip to California and back.
On the bus ride to and from Anaheim, the band and color guard students plus chaperones will tour various venues. Highlight of the trip will be two performances at Disneyland.
The group will march in the parade at Disneyland, performing the same “Pirates of the Caribbean” selection as they did at Buffalo Days.
After the parade the group will tour a recording studio before sitting down to perform a Disney song.
Director Richard Owen said band members do not know which selection they will play.
“They will tell us when we get there,” he said.
Their song performance will be mixed into a sound track, similar to those used in a Disney movie, Owen said.
The high school music department conducts a band trip every four years.
