Luverne Redbirds suffer first three losses before returning to win column Sunday

The Luverne Redbirds amateur baseball team is 6-3 on the season after going 2-3 during its most recent five games.
The Redbirds played the Irish at Milroy Wednesday and will compete at the Atwater tournament Friday and Saturday.
 
Luverne 6, Tracy 1
Luverne got back into the win column on Sunday with a 6-1 game in Tracy.  
Tyler Reisdorfer pitched the entire game for the Redbirds. He struck out ten batters and gave up two hits and three walks.
Luverne opened the game by scoring three runs in the first inning and adding one run in the second and two runs in the fourth.
Tracy scored its lone run in the sixth inning.
Luverne was led at the plate by Declan Beers with three hits and one RBI.
Skylar Wenninger and Zach Loosbrock had two hits each for Luverne.
Reisdorfer and Brooks Mauer each scored two runs in the game.

Windom 6, Luverne 5
The Luverne amateur baseball team lost a close game to Windom Saturday on the road.
The game was tied at four at the top of the ninth inning. Luverne scored one run in the top of the ninth to take the lead.
The lead was short-lived, however. Windom scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to secure the win.
Brooks Mauer pitched the full game for the Redbirds. He struck out two batters, walked four and gave up nine hits in the game.
Luverne hitters were led by Phil Paquette, Skylar Wenninger and Connor Crabtree with two hits apiece.
Wenninger also had two RBIs in the contest.

Renner 10, Luverne 5
The Luverne Redbirds came up short against the Renner Monarchs Thursday (June 6) in Luverne.
The hosts scored four runs in the top of the first and added one more run in the fifth inning.
Ryan Gonzalez pitched the first three innings for the Redbirds and gave up four runs.
Zane Hiller replaced Gonzalez on the mound for the next two innings and gave up three runs.
Brooks Mauer pitched the next two innings and Andrew DeBoer pitched the final inning for the Redbirds.
Skylar Wenninger led the Redbirds at the plate with three hits. He also scored a run and had one RBI.
Logan Norman had two RBIs for Luverne.

Fairmont 12, Luverne 6
A short-handed Redbirds team traveled to Fairmont Wednesday (June 5) and lost to the Martins 12-6.
Luverne scored two runs in the first, one in the third, one in the seventh and two in the eighth inning.
Fairmont took a 7-3 lead by scoring five runs in the third inning and didn’t look back, adding four insurance runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth inning.
Connor Crabtree pitched the first four innings for Luverne. Connor Hoffman replaced him on the mound for the remainder of the game.
Logan Norman produced an RBI triple for the Redbirds in the third inning.
Luverne did have 12 hits in the game, but gave up too many walks and a couple of costly errors, according to manager Brooks Mauer.

Luverne 11, Heron Lake 1
The Luverne Redbirds amateur baseball team defeated the Heron Lake Lakers 11-1 Sunday, June 2, in Luverne.
The locals upped their record to 5-0 with the six-inning victory.
Luverne’s Codie Zeutenhorst pitched the complete game.
The Redbirds were led at the plate by Zeutenhorst and Connor Hoffman with three hits apiece.
Jaxon Nelson scored two runs and batted in four more runs for Luverne, including a two-run double. Skylar Wenninger also plated two runs and batted in two runners for the home team.
Tyler Reisdorfer, Declan Beers and Wenninger each had two hits for Luverne.
