Luverne Legion baseball opens season with win over Adrian

The Luverne American Legion baseball team opened its season Thursday, June 13, at Redbird Field in Luverne.
The start of the season was delayed because of the high school team’s playoff run.
The hosts started out on a winning note with a 10-2 victory over Adrian.
Luverne played in Tracy on Tuesday (June 18) and will host their annual home tournament this weekend at Redbird Field.

Luverne took a 2-0 lead in the first inning against Adrian and didn’t look back en route to a 10-2 victory.
The hosts increased their lead by scoring three runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth inning before scoring their final run in the sixth.
Ben Serie hit a bases-clearing double that scored three of those runs in the fourth inning.
Jake Haugen had two hits and two RBIs for Luverne while Serie and Gaige Nath scored three runs each.
Jacob Van Dam started the game on the mound for Luverne, pitching four innings and giving up the two runs.
Quinn Buss pitched the next two innings and Cade Wenninger was on, the mound for the final inning of the game.
