Ohme: Another successful year for the Salvation Army

To the Editor:
Another successful Red Kettle Campaign for Rock County has added $7,032 to local Salvation Army funds.
The many services provided in 2015 included  back-to-school supplies for county school children, supplies for special needs students that would otherwise not be provided, study materials and clothing for Southwest Youth Services in Magnolia, and tokens for Heartland Express for volunteers who would not be able to afford continuing their volunteer duties.
As always, the Salvation Army provides emergency funding for heat, auto repairs and housing in crisis events, and Angel Tree gifts for area children.
The beauty of the money collected here is its flexibility in meeting local demonstrated needs that would otherwise go unfunded.
Many thanks to our dedicated bell ringers who make the Red Kettle campaign possible: Santa (Rodger Ossenfort), Main Street Financial, Continental Western Group, Seana Graber and the Luverne high school choir, Katie Baustian and St. Catherine's Church youth, Luverne Girls’ Hockey, and the Christian Motorcycle Association's Redemption Riders. These selfless volunteers helped to fill large blocks of time at the Red Kettle at Glen's Food Center.
And as always, thanks to Glen's Food Center for providing shelter for the kettle and our bell ringers.
Happy New Year to all, and many thanks to all who contributed to our kettles this year.
