Mulligan: Poppy Poster, Poppy Fund monies are for veterans

To the Editor:
The American Legion Auxiliary 123 appreciates all the support from area businesses that donated to the Poppy Poster Fund, from people who donated money to the Poppy Fund, and from volunteers who sought donations for these funds for our veterans.
The Poppy Poster and Poppy Fund money goes to fund several programs including the following:
We provide bingo twice a year at the Sioux Falls V.A. Hospital, music at the Minnesota Veterans Home, Christmas gifts for veterans and their spouses or significant others, the dollar bill shower for residents at the Minnesota Veterans Home, as well as birthday cards and other holiday cards for veterans.
These funds also furnish cookies for Memorial Day and Veterans Day along with the VFW Post 2757, trips for residents at the Minnesota Veterans Home, dinner and entertainment money for veterans and their spouses, money for the department president and other projects for veterans.
As you can see, the veterans mean a lot to us for what they do and sacrifices for our country and for us. This is how we can pay them back by donating to the veterans program.

The Star Herald encourages letters to the editor expressing the opinions of readers and intends to print all letters. Letters not meeting the guidelines will not be printed. Letters with more than 300 words may be edited.
