McDonald: 'Thankful heart' for the men and women who served, sacrificed for our country

 
To the Editor:
We in Rock County are very fortunate to have the dedication of the men and women of our American Legion and VFW.  Each year they organize and perform a beautiful program for Memorial Day.
This year’s program was exceptional. I was one of the many who left the cemetery with a thankful heart, remembering the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our country.
Our current Honor Guard is made up of 22 men and women of the American Legion and VFW. They perform at many functions throughout the year. You will see them presenting the colors at football games, leading parades, attending Veterans Home programs and conducting graveside services. They are always there, serving with pride and honor just as they served for our country; only now they serve for the people of Rock County.
We salute our service men and women.
