Overgaard: Community support for youth is outstanding

To the Editor:

This past school year I had the honor of chairing the Luverne Music Boosters Winter Carnival and this year‘s Junior-Senior After-Prom.

Both of these activities play an important part within our school system; however, none of them would be possible without the amazing support of our school and our community.

I want to sincerely recognize our local businesses for all they do, for not only for our school, but all of our organizations. On a daily basis they are asked for donations and contributions, and without hesitation, these businesses graciously donate their services and products to help out.

We are equally blessed by the amazing staff within our schools — from administration to custodial and teachers to paras. There are hundreds of hours that are spent throughout the school year planning, organizing and overseeing activities from sports to music and student organizations to prom.

We also have incredible parents who volunteer their time to attend meetings, deliver treats, plan decorations, help with homework, taxi their students and operate as support crew. Parents are the key to their child’s success.

On behalf of all of the parents involved in all of the activities throughout the school year, we express our sincere appreciation for your investments of time and resources.

Your leadership, patience and guidance of all of our students are priceless gifts to our community and our school system. We have some pretty amazing kids in our community and the outreach that they receive helps continue to provide incredible opportunities for all of them.

To all of our businesses, parents and school staff … we are eternally grateful.
