NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That the Rock County Planning Commission shall conduct a public hearing on Monday, June 29, 2020, at 7:15 p.m. at the Rock County Law Enforcement Center located at 1000 North Blue Mound Avenue, Luverne, Minnesota, for the purpose of considering amendments and additions to the Rock County Zoning Ordinance and which amendments and additions shall pertain to the Renewable Energy Ordinance, which regulates the installation and operation of Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) of less than 5000 kilowatts (or 5 megawatts) and Solar Energy Systems of less than 50,000 kilowatts (or 50 megawatts), pursuant to M.S. 216F, Wind Energy Conversion Systems, and Solar Energy Conversion Systems, pursuant to M.S. 216C.25, 500.30, and Minnesota Rules Chapter 1325.1100.  Those portions of the renewable energy ordinance subject to change shall include wind turbine setbacks to property lines and setbacks to wetlands, and the standards for the installation and placement power and communication lines in large solar farms.  

To help mitigate the risk to public health by following the recommendations from the Department of Health and Human Services, along with Governor Walz’ statewide response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the total number of attendees present at the meeting will be limited in order to meet the Governor’s requirements of 10 or less.

If you wish to offer comments relative to the public hearings being held and do not need to be present, we ask you to submit that those comments by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29.  Comments can be submitted in writing to the Rock County Land Management Office, located at 311 West Gabrielson Road, Suite 4, Luverne, Minnesota, or submitted by e-mail to: eric.hartman@co.rock.mn.us

All interested parties are invited to attend.  Written comments should be submitted to the Rock County Zoning Administrator by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 29, 2020.  All persons desiring to be heard shall be given an opportunity to present testimony.
