Pursuant to the Rock County Zoning Ordinance, notice is hereby given by the Rock County Planning and Zoning Commission that a public hearing will be held in the Herried Room at the Rock County Law Courthouse located at 204 East Brown Street, Luverne, Minnesota at 7:10 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2020.  

PLEASE NOTE:  To help mitigate the risk to public health by following the recommendations from the Department of Health and Human Services, along with Governor Walz’ statewide response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the total number of attendees present at the meeting will be limited in order to meet the Governor’s requirements of 10 or less.

  If you wish to offer comments relative to the public hearings being held and do not need to be present, we ask you to submit that those comments by 12:00 NOON on Monday, June 8.  Comments can be submitted in writing to the Rock County Land Management Office, located at 311 West Gabrielson Road, Suite 4, Luverne, Minnesota, or submitted by e-mail to:

We appreciate the patience and understanding of the citizens of Rock County as we are working to protect the health of the public, while minimizing the disruption of our operations.    

The purpose of this hearing is to rule on the application submitted by Ashley Nye and Collin Lyndorff for a variance to allow the placement of a new non-farm dwelling less than 1/2 mile from an existing feedlot owned by Jim and Betty Sherwood and operating as Sherwood Cattle Company. The proposed dwelling would be located in the NE 1/4 of Section 12 of Kanaranzi Township, T101N, R44W, Rock County, Minnesota.
