July 13, 2020

The The Hills-Beaver Creek School Board met for its semi-monthly meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the H-BC Secondary School Media Center/via Zoom Mtg for 

Guest attendees – based on MN Statute 13D.021.

Board members present were Bosch, Gehrke, Knobloch, LaRock, Rauk, and Rozeboom. Superintendent Holthaus, Principal Kellenberger and Business Manager Rozeboom were also in attendance. Board Member Wysong was 

absent.

Motion by Bosch, second by LaRock, and carried to approve the agenda. Proposed Addition to Agenda: Hiring P/T Cook.

Visitor to the meeting was Mavis Fodness (Rock County Star Herald).

Motion by Rozeboom, second by Knobloch, and carried to approve minutes

6/22/2020.

Motion by LaRock, second by Bosch, and carried to approve bills.

Motion by LaRock, second by Rozeboom, and carried to approve Hand-

books for the 2020-2021 School Year:

        -Preschool Handbook

        -Employee/Staff Handbook

        -Secondary Student Handbook

        -Elementary Student Handbook

        -Crisis Management Plan Handbook

Motion by Knobloch, second by Bosch, and carried to approve Review of 

Yearly Policies:

        410- Family and Medical Leave Policy

        413- Harassment and Violence

        414- Mandated Reporting of Child Neglect or Physical or Sexual         Abuse

        415- Mandated Reporting of Maltreatment of Vulnerable Adults

        506- Student Discipline

        514- Bullying Prohibition Policy

        522- Student Sex Nondiscrimination

        524- Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy

        616- School District System Accountability (See item 4.11.4)

        806-Crisis Management Policy

Motion by LaRock, second by Rauk, and carried to approve Non-Substan-

tive Changes in the following policies one and only reading:

      -419 Tobacco-Free Environment: Possession and Use of Tobacco, To-

        bacco-Related Devices, and Electronic Delivery Devices

      -534 Unpaid Meal Charges

Motion by Bosch, second by Rozeboom, and carried to approve First Read-

ing of the following Policies:

        -603 Curriculum Development

        -605 Testing Accommodations, Modifications and

        Exemptions for IEPs, Section 504 Plans, and LEP Students

        -614 School District Testing Plan and Procedure

        -616 School District System Accountability

        -618 Assessment of Student Achievement

        -619 Staff Development for Standards

        -802 Disposition of Obsolete Equipment

Motion by LaRock, second by Knobloch, and carried to approve resolution for district membership in the MN State High School League for the 2020-2021 

School Year-View Why we play video.

Motion by Knobloch, second by LaRock, and carried to approve Removing Policy 617-School District Ensurance of Preparatory and High School Standards.

PERSONNEL:

Motion by Bosch, second by Rozeboom, and carried to approve hiring Joan

Johnson P/T Cook’s Assistant (4 hours).

Motion by LaRock, second by Bosch, and carried to approve hiring Dylan Gehrke as Head Volleyball Coach for the 2020-2021 season pending season will occur.

Motion by LaRock, second by Knobloch, and carried to approve hiring Halden Van Wyhe as Assistant Volleyball Coach for the 2020-2021 season pending season

occurring.

Motion by Bosch, second by Rozeboom, and carried to approve hiring Anita Blank P/T Cook's Assistant (6 hours).

Motion by Bosch, second by LaRock, and carried to approve moving to close meeting as permitted by MN Statutes, section 13D.05, subdivision 3(a) to 

evaluate the performance of Todd Holthaus, District Superintendent.
