City of Luverne adopts Ordinance No. 12

ORDINANCE NO. 12, FOURTH SERIES

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LUVERNE, MINNESOTA, AMENDING THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUVERNE, MINNESOTA, SECTION 2.01. COMPOSITION AND ELECTION, AMENDING CITY CHARTER, SECTION 2.01. IN ITS ENTIRETY

THE CITY OF LUVERNE DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:

SECTION 1. Section. 2.01. Composition and Election. is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows:

SECTION 2.01. COMPOSITION AND ELECTION.

        The Council shall be composed of a Mayor and four Council Members, all

of whom must be eligible to hold office under the Constitution of this State. Two

Council Members shall be elected from each Ward and the Mayor shall be elected

at-large. Each Council Member shall serve for a term of four years and until his 

or her successor is elected and qualifies. The Mayor shall serve for a term of 

four years and until his or her successor is elected and qualifies. The Council

shall be judges of the election returns.

SEC. 2. The term Alderman shall be deleted and replaced with the term Council Member in all official documents of the City of Luverne, Minnesota including, but not limited to the Home Rule Charter and City Code.

SEC. 3. This ordinance takes full force and effect ninety (90) days after its publication.
