Land management agencies host work group meeting March 16

Goal is to discuss local concerns and prioritize resources in Rock County
The Rock Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will convene a local work group meeting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, in the Land Management Office conference room.
The point of the meeting is to provide guidance and discuss local resource concerns and NRCS programs in Rock County.
“The emphasis I hope we have producers bring forward (and I will, definitely) is to provide better support of cover crops and strip till or no till,” said Doug Bos of the Rock County Land Management Office.
“We have had farmers apply for cost share for cover crops but very limited rank high enough.  So this is an opportunity to raise the ranking points for EQIP cost share dollars awarded for these practices.”
The local work group includes representatives from cooperating federal, state and local agencies, conservation organizations and the public to provide localized information on natural resource priorities in the Rock SWCD.
Local Working Group meetings are open to the public.
Anyone interested in becoming a work group member and participating should contact the NRCS District Conservationist for an application or contact Doug Bos at 507-283-8862 for information.
