Need an attitude change?

A day at the farm viewing bunnies, eating ice cream, talking with neighbors can brighten anyone's day

Negative news events and extreme humid weather have taken their toll in recent weeks, leaving many of us in sour moods.
To get away from the national police shootings and negative political events, residents can use this week’s Rock County Fair to step back, take a deep breath and enjoy a conversation with neighbors.
Today’s Star Herald highlights some of the fair events taking place now through Saturday night.
Also in today’s paper are the 10 residents who are seeking election to local offices.
These individuals have stepped forward indicating their willingness to lead our county and city for the next four years.
The Star Herald commends them for taking an active interest in where our governments should focus time and public monies.
Voters in the County Commission districts 1 and 3 and the city of Luverne’s North Ward will chose two candidates in the Aug. 9 primary election to face off in the general election.
These 10 individuals are our friends and/or neighbors.
More than likely Red Arndt, Ron Boyenga, Greg Burger, Don Bryan, Mike Davis, Kyle Hemme, Larry Lanphere, Dan Nath, Gary Overgaard and Darrel Van Aartsen will attend the county fair. They should see this time as a great way to meet the public and their potential constituents.
As fairgoers we should take the time as we walk the midway, grab a bite to eat and view the 4-H and open class projects to talk with these potential leaders.
Polite conversations about politics, ideas or just less humid weather are great ways to change negativity into a positive.
There’s also no need to carry a bad mood to the fair due to the wide array of events it features.
•Watch one of a dozen livestock shows featuring the hard work of area youth.
•Attend an evening grandstand event.
•Walk through the commercial exhibit buildings.
•View the historical buildings and demonstrations.
•Take a ride on the midway.
Enjoy this week as an escape and a time to regroup — and to promote and enjoy the more positive things in life.
