I hope everyone had a nice Easter this past weekend. The weather was spectacular for a change so we were able to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.
The Petersons actually hosted two Easter family gatherings, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.
Why two gatherings, you ask? Family work schedules dictated the weekend get-together.
As mentioned earlier, the weather allowed us the opportunity to be outside. Saturday’s events included the traditional Easter egg hunt for the grandsons, which probably was held for the last time because of advancing ages of the three boys.
On the more strenuous side of the physical exertion scale of outdoor events were basketball and kickball.
Teams were divided up young against old. Even though the old team outnumbered the young team by one, the three grandsons made quick work of their parents and grandparents.
Sunday’s celebration was a little less physical because the two granddaughters were both much younger than the grandsons, four years of age being the oldest. To be honest, though, I thought if we played the same two games and the teams were divided by age, the old team might have a chance for redemption.
Sunday’s events included another Easter egg hunt followed by kite flying, a ranger ride and a short dog walk.
By the end of the weekend this guy sitting at the keyboard came to the realization he isn’t in as good a shape as he thought he was.
With Mother’s Day less than a month away and the possibility of a basketball and kickball game rematch looming, I’d better step up my daily workout routine and work on my jump shot. On second thought, let’s scrap the jump shot idea and go with the old school set shot.
