What a great birthday and Easter it was!
Easter has not fallen on my birthday since I was 11 or so, but this year I’m glad it did.
I came to the conclusion that I have passed all the birthdays that seem “exciting,” so getting to spend the day with my family for Easter made it seem like somewhat of a special birthday.
As I was becoming all depressed that I was about to turn 23, I realized I’m really not getting that old yet and should stop complaining.
We started out the birthday festivities on Wednesday when Halden’s family took me to eat at Applebee’s, one of my favorite restaurants.
On Saturday we got together with Halden’s side of the family for Easter, and on Sunday “the big 23rd birthday” day was spent with my family in Adrian.
It was great to be able to spend the day with family and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Halden gave me birthday gifts early this year. As I mentioned in previous columns, I was begging Halden to get a puppy for me for this birthday, so Ally was technically a birthday gift to me. Although I got her a month earlier, she was the best birthday gift I could have asked for this year.
One other thing he got me — or I should say made me — was a shelf for my excessive number of shoes.
He went all crafty and made a wood shelf that fits perfectly into my closet. It fits all my pairs of shoes and due to my personality of always needing things clean, it is great to be able to see all my shoes in a neat manner. (So if any of you want a shoe shelf, Halden does a great job with them.)
All in all, it was a good Easter and birthday. I hope all of you had a great time with family as well.
