The Hills-Beaver Creek track teams opened the 2014 season at Dakota Dome in Vermillion, S.D., March 25.
Competing in the Class B version of the Dan Lennon Invitational, the Patriots walked away with three top-10 efforts and eight top 20 performances during the meet.
Carey Taubert and Zach Scholten recorded the best efforts for the Patriot boys.
Taubert covered 39-10 ½ in the triple jump to place seventh.
Scholten cleared 6-0 in the high jump to finish eighth in the field.
Patriot Isaiah Vis recorded a pair of top 20 efforts.
Vis placed 12th in the triple jump and 16th in the long jump with respective 37-2 ¼ and 17-9 performances.
Braden Ellingson and Drew Forshey registered 15th place efforts for the Patriot boys.
Ellingson covered 36-3 ½ in the triple jump, while Forshey cleared 5-6 in the high jump.
Jenna Wilgenburg came up with the top performance for the Patriot girls by placing ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:06.61.
Wilgenburg also ran a leg with H-BC’s sprint-medley relay, which placed 12th with a time of 4:56.5.
Haley Leuthold, Amanda Crawford and Tori Bork teamed up with Wilgenburg for the race.
