The Tri-State Buffalos came up with a big win Saturday night in Harrisburg, S.D.
After playing a rain-soaked game against the Buffalo Ridge Wildcats (a 35-0 loss for T-S) June 8, a decision was made to play Saturday’s game against the North Iowa Bucks in Harrisburg and allow the Hills field to recover from the contest the week before.
The change of venues appeared to suit the Buffalos well, and they upped their record to 4-2 with a 45-14 victory over the Bucks.
The game was a tight contest in the first half, when Tri-State sported a 15-8 advantage at the intermission.
The Buffalos exploded for 30 second-half points to secure a 31-point victory.
Tri-State quarterback Jordan Larson led the onslaught by throwing for two touchdown passes and registering two rushing touchdowns.
Seth Nuffer and Lucas Gravel hauled in one touchdown reception each.
Cody Scholten provided the defensive highlight of the game by picking off a pass and returning it to the North Iowa one-yard line.
The win was a big one for the Buffalos, who are in the hunt for one of the top four seeds that would allow them to host a playoff game in two weeks.
T-S is one of five teams that sport a 4-2 record or better heading into the final week of the regular season.
The Buffalos play the 0-6 Dakota County Outlaws in West Concord at 1 p.m. Saturday.
A win would nearly lock up a home playoff game for T-S.
