Shannon Marie Dibbern, 32, Luverne, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Sanford Luverne Hospital.
A memorial service was Monday, April 29, at Hartquist Funeral Home in Luverne. Burial followed at Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
Shannon Dibbern was born April 5, 1981, to Harlan and Renee (Wills) Dibbern in Las Vegas, Nev. When she was 10 years old, the family moved to Luverne. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1999. She continued her education at Stewart School in Sioux Falls, S.D., She later worked in collections. She then attended Colorado Technical University where she graduated with an associate of science degree in medical assisting. She also completed courses and received her certification in nursing assistance. She then began working at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne. Due to a job-related back injury in 2009, Shannon had been unable to work. Most recently Shannon had been looking forward to a few new activities. She had been scheduled to begin volunteer work with both the Rock County Historical Society and the Crisis Center.
Shannon loved singing karaoke and all types of music with a good beat. She enjoyed fishing, video games and watching movies, especially “B” rated horror movies. She was the kind of person that always looked for the good in others. Most important in Shannon was her son, Donovan, and she loved spending time with him.
Shannon is survived by her son, Donovan, Luverne; her parents, Harlan and Renee Dibbern, Luverne; a brother, David (Jessica) Dibbern, Marshall; family friend George McDonald, Luverne; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harvey and Ruby Dibbern; maternal grandparents, John and Ann Wills; and one cousin, Kris Mulvihill.
