The Luverne Pee Wee A hockey team earned a berth in the state tournament after placing second at the Minnesota Hockey Pee Wee A South Region Tournament staged at the Blue Mound Ice Arena over the weekend. Luverne defeated Mankato and Rochester Black in the first two rounds of the tournament before falling to Sartell in the championship game. Luverne beat Rochester Black for a second time in the second-place game, earning a trip to Faribault for the Minnesota State Pee Wee A Hockey Tournament March 15-17. Team members include (front) Daniel Tofteland, (second row, from left) Gaige Nath, Ben Serie, Mark Sterrett, Brogan Hart, (third row) Coy Gonnerman, Kasyn Kruse, Trey Roberts, Jim Erickson, Declan Beers, (back) coaches Paul Erickson, Jason Kruse and Matt Nath.
