Patriots best Raiders in second half

The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ basketball team upped its Red Rock Conference record to 4-5 after registering a come-from-behind victory over Fulda Tuesday in Hills.

After falling behind 29-27 in the first half, the Patriots canned 14 of 22 field goals and outscored the Raiders 37-20 in the final 18 minutes of play to secure a 64-49 win.

“We changed things up a little bit and got the ball inside more in the second half,” said Patriot coach Steve Wiertzema.

“We only took four shots outside the lane in the second half.”

Dylan Gehrke (16 points), Jeff Sandbulte (14 points and 11 rebounds), Carey Taubert (14 points and nine rebounds), Dalton Bass (11 points and nine rebounds) and Jon Gallagher (17 rebounds) turned in big games for H-BC.

The 6-9 Patriots play in Slayton Friday.
