H-BC's rally falls short Saturday

An impressive rally by the Hills-Beaver Creek girls came up four points short Saturday when the Patriots entertained Mountain Lake Area for a Red Rock Conference basketball game in Hills.

The visiting Wolverines led by 13 points (31-18) at the intermission and led by as many as 18 points in the second half.

H-BC climbed to within 11 points of MLA with less than two minutes remaining and kept on fighting until the game’s final horn sounded with the Wolverines prevailing 58-54.

“They killed us on the boards and we didn’t take care of the ball as well as we should have in the first half. We did a much better job on the boards and hit more shots in the second half,” said Patriot coach Jason Blosmo.

Haley Van Wyhe paced the Patriots with 16 points and nine rebounds in the game.

Taylor Wingert chipped in 12 points.
