SWC sweeps H-BC Tuesday

The Hills-Beaver Creek volleyball team couldn’t pull off an upset when it took on Red Rock Conference powerhouse Southwest Christian Tuesday in Edgerton.

After winning three of their last four matches, H-BC entertained hopes of knocking off the conference-leading E-Gals entering the match.

SWC didn’t allow it to happen.

The E-Gals outscored the Patriots 75-35 to post a comfortable 3-0 victory.

“We were physically overmatched by a very good team,” said H-BC coach Mary Jo Graphenteen.

“It wasn’t because of a lack of trying on our part, but we just couldn’t score against them. We played hard and we didn’t quit. We just couldn’t handle their serves.”

Meghan Leuthold (four kills and four digs), Hattie Van Wyhe (two kills and nine of nine serving) and Paige Leuthold (eight set assists and six of six serving) led H-BC statistically.

The 3-10 Patriots play at Edgerton Public School Thursday.
