School board recognizes student accomplishments

Hills-Beaver Creek School Board members recognized the accomplishments of several groups and individuals at Monday night’s meeting.

•Three H-BC high school Knowledge Bowl teams competed in subsection competition Monday. One team with five students qualified to move on to the section final in Marshall on Thursday.

•Five students and an alternate qualified to participate in the SWMN Spelling Bee in Fulda Saturday, April 10. Those students are Alyssa Allen, Drew Forchey, Macie Fuerstenberg, Trevor Paulsen and Thea Richards. Torrie Leuthold will serve as an alternate.

•The board recognized the work of volunteers and staff members who assisted with cookie dough distribution Friday at the elementary school.

 

In other district news:

•Kindergarten Roundup is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, at the elementary school in Beaver Creek.

This is an evening for students and families with children who are 5 years old prior to Sept. 1, 2010. 

The district intends to invite 20 to 25 students. Elementary Principal Todd Holthaus indicated that others usually attend.

•The district will accept mowing bids until March 22. Bidders can bid on one or all of the options detailed in the bid request. For additional details contact the school.

•The board closed a portion of Monday night’s meeting to discuss negotiations with landowners.

•The Elementary Peer Mediators will sponsor a skating party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 19, in the elementary school gymnasium.
