Students selected for Honor Band

Trombonist Trevor Teal and percussionist Drew Weis, students of Luverne band instructors Mary Goheen and Jesse Miller, have been chosen to participate in the 2009-10 Middle Level Honor Band. They were selected for participation by the Minnesota Band Directors Association (MBDA). Teal and Weis were chosen from 321 auditioning students this winter to be part of the 82-member group.

Honor band students have the opportunity to work with some of the finest music educators in the state as their section coaches. This year the group will be conducted by Dr. Donald Krubsack, director at Orono High School. They will rehearse with Dr. Krubsack on Saturday, April 17, at Marshall High School and will then present a concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in the Marshall High School auditorium. The Honor Band program is an ongoing project of MBDA, a professional organization of band directors representing band programs of all grade levels from throughout the state of Minnesota. Their mission is to assist in the development of band directors and band programs in schools, colleges and communities throughout Minnesota.
