Luverne Cardinals and Adrian Dragons posted victories in St. Peter Saturday to advance in state playoff competition

The Luverne and Adrian high school football teams opened their respective state tournaments by posting victories in St. Peter Saturday.
The Luverne Cardinals defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 27-0 in a Class AA quarterfinal, and the Adrian Dragons nipped St. Bernard's 27-21 in overtime during a Class A quarterfinal.
