•Because of hazards and dangers, the mailboxes on State Highway 270 and County Road 6 need to be removed by Aug. 1. The council voted to approve the motion with the exception of mailboxes that were grandfathered in.

•A large group made their presence known at Monday’s school board meeting. And the majority message offered by the group was to “keep Hills-Beaver Creek.”

•The Hills FFA General Livestock Judging team placed 7th in a field of 67 teams entered in the State Contest. These 67 teams were chosen as the best in the state during district and regional competition.
75 years ago (1940)
•A brand new play will be presented this year. This is “The Circus Queen,” a comedy drama of life under the big top. “The Circus Queen” will be given for one night only in the auditorium.
100 years ago (1915)
•A.C. Brewster finished drilling his well at 111 feet and moved his drill to Luverne Monday to work on the city well. Ross Perry and Frank Loose assisted him in the moving.
