Plimpton earns spot on All-RRC roster
The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ golf team braved unseasonable conditions to compete at the annual Red Rock Conference Tournament Monday at the Worthington Country Club.
With temperatures in the low 40s along with windy and wet playing conditions to deal with, the tournament was shortened from an 18-hole event to a nine-hole competition.
It worked out well for the Patriots, who placed fourth in a nine-team field and had one player make the All-RRC squad.
Junior Stuart Plimpton led the charge for H-BC by carding a 44.
Plimpton placed seventh individually to earn a position on the All-RRC roster.
With Plimpton leading the way, H-BC posted a 198-stroke team tally.
The Patriots finished behind Murray County Central (170), Adrian (176) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove (196) in the team standings.
H-BC topped Fulda (199), Mountain Lake Area (206), Red Rock Central (207), Heron Lake-Okabena (230) and Southwest Christian (242).
Preston Maassen and Justin Sandbulte added respective 48- and 49-stroke rounds to H-BC’s team tally, while Braden Ellingson and Anthony Ackerman fired 57s.
Noah Holthaus turned in a 58 without impacting the scoring.
MCC’s Adam Christensen earned medalist honors with 138.
Other players making the all-league team include MCC’s Grant Everson (40), Tyler Groves (45), Brad Schreiber (47) and Jack Pierson (47), Adrian’s Ben Henning (41), Ryan Elias (42), Brady Henning (46) and Collin Kemper (47), MLA’s Aaron Walzak (42), SWC’s Jay DeBoer (42) and Fulda’s Brandon Everett (47).
