H-BC's Sandbulte advances in golf
A Hills-Beaver Creek High School senior extended his golf season at the Section 3A South-Sub Section Golf Tournament May 20 at the Worthington Country Club.
Justin Sandbulte became one of the sub-section’s nine individuals to qualify for section competition after carding a 90 in Worthington.
Unfortunately for H-BC, Sandbulte is the only Patriot who qualified for Wednesday’s (May 27) Section 3A Tournament in Marshall.
The top two teams at the sub-section event advance to the section tourney, but H-BC placed fifth in an eight-team field with 398 strokes.
Murray County Central (321), Windom (358), Adrian (359) and Westbrook-Walnut Grove (397) led the field, while the Patriots topped Fulda (410), Southwest Christian-Edgerton (425) and Heron Lake-Okabena (471) in the final standings.
H-BC ends team competition with a 15-13 record.
Braden Ellingson, Preston Maassen and Stuart Plimpton added respective 101-, 103- and 104-stroke scores to H-BC’s team tally.
Noah Holthaus and Anthony Ackerman shot 105- and 107-stroke rounds without impacting the scoring.
Joining Sandbulte as section individual qualifiers include Adrian’s Ben Henning (82), Collin Kemper (87), Ryan Elias (93) and Tommy McCarthy (97), SWC-E’s Jay DeBoer (89), Fulda’s Jason Van Dyke (96) and W-WG’s Kyle Kuehl (96) and Jack Jorgenson (97).
MCC’s Adam Christensen shot a 75 to win the individual title.
