tuff home crowns royalty for nursing home week
Harold Etrheim and Etta DeJongh were crowned the 2015-16 Tuff Home king and queen during a coronation ceremony at the Tuff Memorial Home Monday afternoon, May 11.
They will represent the home in area parades including Hills Friendship Days and Luverne Buffalo Days.
Etrheim and DeJongh took over the duties from last year’s reigning couple, Cliff Anderson and Toots Van Iperen.
Etrheim has been a resident since November 2014. He enjoys reading and attending activities in the nursing home. DeJongh moved to the home in August 2012. She enjoys visiting, listening to music and playing bingo.
Runners-up for 2015-16 were Jim Leenderts and Betty Nath.
The coronation ceremony helped kick off a week of activities at the home in conjunction with National Nursing Home Week. The theme for the week is “Bring on the Fiesta.”
