•Hills-Beaver Creek fourth-grade teacher Emily Walgrave celebrated her final week of teaching Tuesday afternoon with peers, friends and students. She was honored with a plaque recognizing the 17 years of service to the H-BC school district.

•Hills-Beaver Creek wrapped up its first-ever high school baseball season with a  7-0 loss against Murray County Central in the first round of Subsection 2 action Saturday at Slayton.
 
50 years ago (1965)
•Last week the Cub Scouts chose to visit their home town and see what they could learn. From what we heard, they were very much surprised that there were so many things they didn’t know about and so much to learn in Hills, their home town.
 
75 years ago (1940)
•Last Monday evening about 7:30 a bolt of lighting struck the barn and hog house of the Rortvedt farm east of town. Luckily, no serious damage could be noted except for the crippling of a hog.
 
100 years ago (1915)
•On the evening of June 2nd a mass meeting of citizens of Hills and surrounding community will be held in the hall in Hills. If you are not in favor of consolidation, come and bring your objections. Any and all objections will be met with convincing arguments and if you are willing to be convinced that consolidation is best, Mr. Howard will surely convince you. Come and hear him.
