Bell ringers needed

The Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign is looking for individuals or groups to ring the bell this holiday season for 2-hour shifts between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. at either Teal’s or Shopko. Christmas event at History Center Nov. 24

The History Center will host a special Christmas event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, with a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus and added displays. The Christmas Haus in the History Center features holiday items for sale.


De-Light-Ful 5K and 1-mile walk Nov. 24

The annual De-Light-Ful 5K and 1 Mile Walk will be Saturday, Nov. 24, with a 6:10 p.m. start at the Luverne Armory. Hospice ‘Tree of Lights’ Nov. 29

The Luverne Hospice “Tree of Lights” lighting ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, at the corner of Main Street and Highway 75.

The Adrian ceremony is at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Adrian Fire Hall. The Hills ceremony is at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Tuff Village.

Names (submitted by Nov. 26) of those remembered or honored will light a light on the tree and will be read during a tree/candle lighting ceremony. The  names will also be printed in the newspaper at Christmas.

Forms for submission of names are available at area churches, Teal’s Market, the  Hospice Cottage, and the Sanford Hospice Office. A suggested donation is $5 per name. Call the Hospice office at 283-1805 with questions.


Cattlemen: register for BQA/TQA training by Nov. 30

Luverne Community Ed is trying a new venue for a dinner theatre bus trip. Enjoy Daytrippers Dinner Theatre (located near the Mall of America) presenting “Ain’t Retirement Grand” on Sunday, Dec. 9.  Fee is $85.  Register by Nov. 30 by calling Community Education office at 507-283-4724.


Christmas Cantata foodshelf benefit Dec. 8

The Carnegie Minstrels choir and orchestra will present the Community Christmas Cantata, “Let There Be Christmas,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the American Reformed Church in Luverne. The event is a benefit for the Rock County Foodshelf. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for age 12 and under.


Luverne Street Music students present ‘Sounds of Christmas’

The Luverne Street Music students will present “The Sounds of Christmas” Dec. 8 at the Palace Theatre. Show times are 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Cost is a freewill offering.


Hardwick ‘Santa Claus Day’ Dec. 8

Hardwick “Santa Claus Day” takes place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the community hall in Hardwick.

Jim Oliver will kick off the event at 2 p.m. with a puppet show.

From 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. a cupcake walk, make and take crafts and cookie decorating takes place.

Pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus occur from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
