Elementary music program is Nov. 9

Luverne Elementary School second- and fourth-graders will present “Mighty Minds,” Friday, Nov. 9, in the elementary gymnasium.

The public performance begins at 2:30 p.m.

The program has students stressed out when they find out they will have to take a whole week of tests, but never fear, the heroic team of “Mighty Minds” comes to the rescue.

Note the time change from previous years’ performances and the date change from the school calendar.

 

Sign up by Nov. 9 for snowmobile safety class at Luverne

Luverne Community Education will offer a snowmobile safety course for ages 11 and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday Nov. 17, at Community Education.

Register prior to Nov. 9 for the Nov. 17 course by calling 507-283-4724. Dress to be outside.  The cost is $10 which includes lunch. Call Dave Severtson at 507-220-3235 with questions.

Anyone born after Dec. 31, 1976, is required to take the course to operate a snowmobile in Minnesota.

Hardwick hosts Veterans Day banquet Nov. 11

The Hardwick American Legion will host a Veterans Day banquet Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Legion hall. Social hour is at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. Speaker is Lieutenant Thomas Nelson of the U.S. National Guard and Boys State commander from Jackson. Maddie Oye will provide music.

 

GEP ‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ opens Nov. 9

The Green Earth Players will present “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” at the Palace Theatre in Luverne at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11. In addition to the same times on Nov. 16-18, the play will also be performed at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. Tickets for all performances are available at the Palace Box Office from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or by calling 507-283-4339.

 

Sanford/Community Blood Bank host blood drive Nov. 12

Sanford Luverne and Luverne Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Sanford Luverne, 1600 N. Kniss Avenue, Luverne. All blood donations will stay local for local use.

Operation Christmas Child boxes available now at ARC

Boxes for Operation Christmas Child are now available at the south entrance of the American Reformed Church for those who are willing to participate. Free food Nov. 15

New Life Celebration Church will offer free produce, bread and meat from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Senior Center on East Lincoln Street for those having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags or boxes. Call 283-4366 with questions.
