 Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, at the home of clerk Teresa Kramer.

 Blue Mound Cemetery Association will host its annual picnic at 7 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the home of Randy and Kathy Remme.

Red Cross blood drives in area

The American Red Cross is sponsoring blood drives in three locations as follows:

•Adrian High School from 1-7 p.m. Thursday, July 5.

•Jasper Evangelical Lutheran Church from 12:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 5.

•Luverne High School 12-6 p.m. Wednesday, June 27.

Bank Night movie ‘Wonder’ July 5

The free Bank Nite movie, “Wonder,” rated PG, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne.

Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win.

Library offers

‘12 Dancing Princesses’

The Rock County Community Library will host Treasure Village and the “12 Dancing Princesses” at 3 p.m. Monday, July 9, for all ages featuring audience participation. This program is made possible through the Clean Water and Land Legacy Amendment grant.


Legion Riders make local stops July 14

The American Legion Riders, which support veterans and their children, will participate in a local motorcycle ride Saturday, July 14. The group will stop in Adrian at the Sports Page around 10:30 a.m. and at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne around noon. Community members are encouraged to join them at these locations to learn about the group and about how to support its efforts.

The July 14 ride will specifically raise awareness of the Legacy Scholarship Fund for children of 50-percent disabled veterans or veterans who have lost their lives in service. Call Diane Strassburg, 290-0011 for donation information or for details about the ride.


Races scheduled for July in Luverne

July 12  is the Eighth Annual Wienerman World Championship, a 4-person relay at Luverne Hot Dog Night. Start time is 7 p.m.

July 14 is Tour de Donut Minnesota, a unique bicycle event where eating donuts is as important as riding bicycle.

Bus trip to Chanhassen ‘Newsies’ July 12

Join Luverne Community Education for a bus trip to Chanhassen Theatre on July 12 to see Disney’s “Newsies” inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899.  This is a high energy musical for all ages.   Fee is $110/person.
