Alcoholics Anonymous meets from 7 to 8 p.m. four days a week at St. John Lutheran Church, Luverne. Sundays — Big Book Study (open meeting); Tuesdays — Big Book Study (closed); Thursdays — 12-step study (closed); and Fridays — speaker meetings (open). Luverne Farmers Market every Thursday   

Luverne Farmers Market will be from 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday through Oct. 25, rain or shine, at Redbird Field just south of East Main Street. Vendors now accept debit cards, credit cards, SNAP and EBT.

Kids are again welcome to participate in the Power of Produce Club. New vendors are always welcome. Register at the Luverne Chamber office, 283-4061.

 

Palace Theatre offers Kids Summer Cinema

This summer the Palace Theatre is offering kids’ movies at 9:30 a.m. for three Fridays, June 15, July 20 and Aug. 17. Admission is $5.

 

Free food June 21

New Life Celebration Church will offer free food — fresh produce, bread and meat — from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the Luverne Senior Center at 319 E. Lincoln Street in Luverne for those having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags or boxes. Call  507-283-4366 with questions.

Steen Reformed to host Allen Family concert June 24

The Steen Reformed Church invites the public to a gospel music concert by the Allen Family at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 24. A freewill offering will be taken for the Allen Family. Refreshments will follow the concert. Call 507-227-7759 with questions.

 

Red Cross hosts blood drive June 27

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at the Luverne High School. Donors need a driver’s license or two other forms of I.D., must be 17 years of age or older, and weigh at least 110 pounds. To speed up donation process, donors may complete pre-donation information online at RedCrossBlood.org/RapidPass.

Summer Community Ed hours:  7:30 to 4:00 Monday through Thursday.  Closed on Fridays.  Closed July 16-27 (last 2 weeks in July).

Introduction to Horsemanship for students who attended grades 3-6 will be June 22. Dress to interact with horses. Fee is $15 for one session.

Send your child grades 1-5 (as attended during 2017-18) to Make a Mess Science class June 18-20.  Fee is $30.

Two different 6 session clay classes will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning June 19.

Students grades 5–adult who would like to learn hand building and wheel throwing may register for Play with Clay. Fee is $49, plus a $15 material fee.

Students in grades 4–adult will learn hand building techniques creating pinch pots and slab thrown trays and pots at Pinch, Pull, Pat With Clay.  Fee is $35 plus $15 material fee.

Sanford Power camp for grades 7-11 (as attended during 2017-18) in Luverne from June 18 through July 26.  Fee is $80.

A Refresher Defensive Driving Class will be offered on June 21. Fee is $20 prepaid.

Join with residents of Poplar Creek to have fun painting Garden Rocks on June 21. Fee is $18. Open to adults and children who attended grade 2 and older.
