NOTICE: Street closure April 26

Sunshine Avenue (Countyy Highway 4) between Walnut Avenue and Warren Street, will be closed Thursday, April 26, for the modification of a concrete box culvert crossing underneath Sunshine Avenue. The duration of the project should be 1-2 days. Call Rock County Highway Engineer Mark Sehr at 507-283-5010 with   questions.

 

Additional food shelf hours

Rock County Food Shelf will add additional hours on the third Thursday of the month. The food shelf is open every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and will also be open from 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 17 and June 21. The food shelf is located at the United Methodist Church with alley access. First Presbyterian invites to Ecumenical Coffee May 2

The First Presbyterian Church invites all area women to their annual Ecumenical Coffee Hour at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2. Speaker Judy Rops will present the program titled “Song of Hope,” in which she shares her experiences as a breast cancer survivor and her mission trip to Palestine.

LPEP hosts Community Conversation April 26

Leaders Partnering to End Poverty (LPEP) will host a Community Conversation and free meal from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Grand Prairie Events.

Help plant public food forest April 26-28

Your help is needed to plant a public food forest at 308 North Blue Mound Avenue in Luverne. The work times are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, April 26-28, and volunteers may work any length of time during those hours. Please bring shovels and spades of all sizes, wheelbarrows, pitchforks and large wire cutters as able. Knights of Columbus Tootsie Rolls April 28

‘Adopt a Craig’ April 28 at Blue Mounds

Join the friends of Blue Mounds State Park at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, to improve the cliff line for climbers and hikers. Meet at the climber’s parking lot on the curve of County Road 8. The Luverne Community Education summer brochure will be included in the April 29 Luverne Announcer.  Sign up for summer rec activities like morning rec, arts and crafts, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, track, and more by May 23.

 

Silent movie at Palace postponed to April 29

The silent movie, “The Freshman,” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the historic Palace Theatre in Luverne, featuring Leona Hoek on the classic theater organ. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children.
