Free food April 19

New Life Celebration Church will offer free food — fresh produce, bread and meat — from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the Luverne Senior Center for those having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags or boxes. Call  283-4366 with questions.


Additional food shelf hours

Rock County Food Shelf will add additional hours on the third Thursday of the month. The food shelf is open every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and will also be open from 5 to 6:30 p.m. April 19, May 17, and June 21. Luverne first- and third-graders perform ‘Hats’ April 20

The first- and third-graders at Luverne Elementary School invite the public to their program, “Hats,” at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20, in the Luverne Elementary Gym.

Hospice Dinner and Auction April 21

Plans are set for the Sanford Luverne Hospice Dinner and Auction April 21 at Grand Prairie Events in Luverne. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the silent auction and raffles. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. followed by a program and live auction. All proceeds stay local to support the Hospice program.


Bike Blessing at UMC April 22

The United Methodist Church in Luverne will host a “Bike Blessing” following the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, April 22. From bicycles to motorcycles, everyone is welcome.


First Presbyterian invites to Ecumenical Coffee May 2

The First Presbyterian Church invites all area women to their annual Ecumenical Coffee Hour at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 2. Speaker Judy Rops will present the program titled “Song of Hope,” in which she shares her experiences as a breast cancer survivor and her mission trip to Palestine.

Help plant public food forest April 26-28

Your help is needed to plant a public food forest at 308 North Blue Mound Avenue in Luverne. The work times are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, April 26-28, and volunteers may work any length of time during those hours. Silent movie at Palace postponed to April 29

The silent movie, “The Freshman,” will be shown at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the historic Palace Theatre in Luverne, featuring Leona Hoek on the classic theater organ. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children.
