Rock County spring road restrictions are in effect

Spring weight road restrictions are in place as of Tuesday, March 6, on all Rock County roadways.

Ending dates are variable and drivers must check for updates throughout the spring. Call Rock County Highway Engineer Mark Sehr at 507-283-5010.


Easter egg hunts March 31

•The Blue Ribbon 4-H Club will host an Easter Egg Hunt at the Tuff Memorial Home at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 31, for children up to 10 years old.

•Magnolia Juniors 4-H Club will host an Easter Egg Hunt and petting in the Magnolia city park starting at 10 a.m. sharp, rain or shine.


Red Cross blood drives in area

The Red Cross has scheduled blood drives in the area as follows:

•Monday, April 2, from 1-7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 500 N. Kniss, Luverne.

•Wednesday, April 4, from noon to 7 p.m. at Adrian High School, 415 Kentucky, Adrian.

Grief Support Group starts April 5

Sanford Luverne Hospice will offer a five-week Grief Support Group from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays from April 5 through May 3 in the Blue Mound Room of Sanford Luverne Medical Center. The meetings are free, confidential and open to anyone in the area grieving the loss of a loved one. Pre-register by calling 507-283-1805.


Hospice Dinner and Auction tickets on sale

Tickets are still available for the Sanford Luverne Hospice Dinner and Auction April 21 at Grand Prairie Events in Luverne. The event includes a plated dinner catered by The Bluestem, raffles, and silent and live auctions.

Tickets may be purchased in person at the Hospice Office in the Luverne City Office building (use City Office entrance on Luverne Street) or call the Hospice office at 507-283-1805 to purchase tickets using a credit card. Ticketholders will be eligible to win a trip for two to Banff, Canada.


Adrian and Luverne libraries host author Brian Freeman

•The Adrian Branch Library will sponsor “An Evening with award-winning Minnesota author Brian Freeman” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the Adrian Elementary School.

•The Rock County Library in Luverne will host Minnesota Author Brian Freeman at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the library.

Free tax help available at library

Volunteers through AARP are providing free tax services at the Rock County Community Library in Luverne during tax season. Call the library, 449-5040, to make an appointment. Appointments are required. Evening appointments are also available.

The service is free for any private individual with a simple tax format. It’s not for commercial, farming or investment taxes.
