‘Warrior Heart Yoga’ Oct. 2 at library
Southwest Crisis Center and the Rock County Library will offer “Warrior Heart Yoga Night,” a one-hour yoga session designed to help participants find the strength of warrior heart.
The event is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3, at the library.
 
One Warm Coat accepts donations through Oct. 31
The Rock County One Warm Coat project is collecting clean, reusable coats of all shapes and sizes (especially children’s sizes) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday through Oct. 31 at the ATLAS for Life office 201 Main Street, Luverne. Coats may also be dropped off at the Luverne Elementary School. Coat drive dates are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 2 and 4 to 7 p.m. Nov. 7. ‘Superstar’ Oct. 4 at Palace Theatre
The Palace Theatre will host “Superstar: The Songs, the Stories, the Carpenters” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Tickets are available at the Palace Theatre box office or by calling 507-283-4339.
 
Pick up ‘Operation Christmas Child’ shoebox after Oct. 1
“Operation Christmas Child” shoeboxes will be available at the American Reformed Church in Luverne after Oct. 1. Fill a shoebox with gifts to share with a child at Christmas. Shredding event  Oct. 5
The Dakota Shred-It shredding truck will be at the Laundry Room parking lot at the corner of Main and Highway 75 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, and will shred your important papers while you watch. No need to remove staples or paperclips. A freewill offering will be accepted for St. Catherine Carmelites fundraiser.
 
Brain Health series starts Oct. 7
#Luv1LuvAll is sponsoring a series of monthly Brain Health classes from 7 to 8 p.m. the first Monday of the month starting Oct 7 and continuing through May (no December class) at Luverne Community Education. The goal is to end stigma and encourage conversations about mental health — like physical health — toward improved quality of life. Certificates of Attendance will be available. Sessions are free but registration is appreciated to plan for accommodations. Call 507-283-4724.
 
Girl Scouts event Oct. 7
Dakota Horizons Council will host a Girl and Parent Information Night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, at Grand Prairie Events, Luverne, for a fun activity and sign-up for those who decide to join. Call 800-666-2141.
 
LHS Homecoming coronation Oct. 7
Luverne High School Homecoming coronation will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, in the at Luverne Elementary School gym. Admission is $3 for adults and students. A root beer float reception will follow in the Elementary Commons.
Fire department movie Oct. 7
Luverne Fire Department members will be selling movie tickets door-to-door on Oct. 7 for their annual firemen’s show, “The Secret Life of Pets 2” which will be at the Palace Theatre Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 16-18.
 
Next dental clinic set for Oct. 9
The next dental clinic for children 0-26 is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Rock County Health and Human Services. Call 612-746-1530 to schedule an appointment. All forms of insurance are accepted.
 
Hospice ‘Tables and Tastings’ and ‘Tour of Tables’ Oct. 25/26
Sanford Luverne Hospice will host its Annual “Tour of Tables” Brunch from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 26, at Grand Prairie Events. A “Tables & Tastings” evening event will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, to preview the tables and enjoy complimentary tastings.
Individuals and organizations are encouraged to host and decorate a table for the event and fundraiser. Sign up for a table, purchase tickets or donate gift baskets by Oct. 14. Call Hospice at 283-1805 with questions or email helen.saum@sanfordhealth.org.

Fall Time Fun for parents and child 0-5 is Oct. 3 with goats, chickens and kitties, and fall activities. Go home with a pumpkin. Fee is $8 per child.
Register now for the local Cardinal League Basketball for grades 3 – 6 (no traveling involved).  Register by October 16.  Fee is $30 (grade 3) and $50 (grades 4-6).   Kick-off Meeting in November 4.
 
#Luv1LuvAll’s mental health focus group will be offering Living With Depression, A Personal Account will be held on October 7 at 7:00 pm at CE Room 802.    A guest speaker will be sharing his experiences with mental illness and how he overcame severe depression.  His story demonstrates how we can find strength in vulnerability and hope in the darkness.   Please register for this free class.  Certificate of attendance forms will be available.
Grades 5-adults will get a basic intro to Hand Building Clay on Oct. 8 and 15. Fee is $25, plus $5 material fee paid to instructor.

Learn basic design principals for professional Flower Arranging on Oct. 22 when you design fall arrangement to take home. Fee is $35 (includes all materials).
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes have openings Tuesday evening for parents with children ages 0–5 years, Thursday morning for parents with children ages 1–2 years and Mondays at 8:30 a.m. for infants birth to walking. Classes are held in the preschool rooms, giving children an opportunity for activities and parents time to explore topics relevant to child development for all ages.  Call 283-4724 for more details.
