Meetings

Generations will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Generations on E. Lincoln Street for board elections and reconnecting. Chairs will be set apart and pandemic precautions will be observed. The group will also hear updates, such as the Generations building is again available for rent. Contact George Bonnema at 507-2277-0682.
 History Center hours return to normal
The Rock County History Center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Some safety precautions — with masks and gloves available — will be in place to protect against the spread of coronavirus. The phone number is 507-283-2122.
 
Halloween ‘Street of Treats’ Oct. 30
The Luverne Area Chamber will host a Halloween Street of Treats from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, along the one-way street on the east side of the high school. Families can drive along the street and wave at costumed participants, and then receive prepackaged candy bags from firemen at the south end. Donate to ‘One Warm Coat’ by Oct. 31
Rock County’s “One Warm Coat Project” will accept new or clean and gently used coats and winter apparel from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at ATLAS for Life, 201 E. Main Street in Luverne through Oct. 31.
Donations may also be brought to the Luverne Elementary School during the month of October.
Distribution dates will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at ATLAS for Life. Contact Destiny Ripka at 507-220-0030 with questions.
 
Dental Clinic in Luverne Oct. 29
Luv1LuvAll's Rock County Oral Health Task Force will host the next dental clinic on Thursday, Oct. 29, for ages 0 to 26 at Rock County Health and Human Services. Call 612-746-1530 to schedule an appointment or stop by Health and Human Services for assistance in scheduling. Exams, x-rays, cleanings and more will be provided. All forms of insurance accepted.
 
4-H virtual awards program Nov. 2
To conclude the 2020 4-H year, adults and youth will gather virtually for the annual member awards program.
The program will take place 6 p.m., Monday, Nov 2 via Zoom.

Free Hockey Day is Nov. 1; new families try a season for free
Try Hockey for Free on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Blue Mound Area Ice Arena. See  www.luvernehockey.com for information and to register.

Give blood in Adrian Nov. 4
The American Red Cross will accept blood donations from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the American Legion Post 32 in Adrian. Download the American Red Cross Blood Donor app or call 1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
 
Experience dementia virtually Nov. 5 online
ACE of Southwest Minnesota will host a Virtual Dementia Reality event from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, through a free online Zoom connection.
Use virtual reality to experience dementia for yourself, by stepping into the shoes of someone living with memory loss.
Community members, service providers, and business leaders develop an appreciation for dementia-friendly changes they can make. CEU’s available upon request.

Operation Christmas Child boxes can be filled
Operation Christmas Child boxes are available for pick up at American Reformed Church at the south entrance starting Monday. Filled boxes may be dropped at the church during the week of Nov. 16-22. Boxes are sent to children who otherwise would not get a gift.

Coffee Break and StoryHour meets Tuesdays
Coffee Break Bible Study and StoryHour meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays at Luverne Christian Reformed Church, 605 North Estey Street. StoryHour involves playtime and Bible stories for children ages 3 through kindergarten. Nursery is available for littlest ones. There is no charge and no Bible knowledge is necessary. Meals on Wheels continue in Jasper
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) has provided Meals on Wheels in Jasper through the Sunrise Village, which is now closed. Going forward, meals will be prepared at the LSS Luverne site and delivered to Jasper City Hall twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. There is also an option to add frozen meals for delivery with the hot meals.
