GEP ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’ at Palace
The Green Earth Players will present the second weekend performances of “The Beverly Hillbillies” Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 21-24, at the historic Palace Theatre in Luverne. ‘You Are Your Own Best Medicine’ Nov. 21
‘Health Care Safety: You Are Your Own Best Medicine’ will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Blue Mound Room of Sanford Luverne.
The Minnesota Alliance for Patient Safety will offer information about how to work with health care providers to better communicate about personal health and to prevent medical errors and improve safety. Pay $5 registration fee at Community Education by Monday, Nov. 18. A light meal will be provided. Call 507-283-4724.
 
H-BC celebrates Blue Ribbon honor Nov. 21
Hills-Beaver Creek Elementary will celebrate its selection as a National Blue Ribbon School with an open house Thursday, Nov. 21, at the elementary school in Beaver Creek.
The open house will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. with a program at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. Cake and refreshments will be served.
 
Bell ringers wanted for Red Kettle
The Salvation Army 2019 Red Kettle Campaign is Nov. 29 through Tuesday Dec. 24, and bell ringers are needed for the fundraising event. Two-hour shifts are available between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Holiday hours at the Rock County Emergency Food Shelf are from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Dec. 5 and 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26. The Food Shelf is located in the lower level of the United Methodist Church, Luverne.
 
Free fresh food Nov. 21
New Life Celebration Church will offer free food from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Generations building on East Lincoln Street for those who are having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags or boxes. Call 507-283-4366.

SHARE seeks donations, invites recipients to sign up by Nov. 27
The Rock County SHARE program  is currently accepting monetary donations sent to SHARE, P.O. Box 792, Luverne, MN 56156. The SHARE program does not accept donations of used items.
Families who would like to receive gifts from SHARE can find application forms at Sunshine Foods, the Rock County Library, area schools, and at Family Services. Applications need to be submitted by Nov. 27 to SHARE at P.O. Box 792, Luverne, MN 56156.
Distribution will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the Luverne National Guard Armory at 309 S. Freeman Avenue. For more information contact Molly at 507-227-9282.
 
Holiday grief support class Nov. 25
A one-session class is being offered on grief support to help anyone grieving the death of a loved one this holiday season. The class will be offered at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, in the Blue Mound Room at Sanford Luverne Medical Center. No advance registration is needed, and the class is free. Light a light on Hospice Tree of Lights
Sanford Luverne Hospice is sponsoring the annual Tree of Lights in several area communities. The public may submit names of loved ones by Nov. 29 to light a light on a tree. Suggested donation is $5 per name. Names of those remembered or honored do not need to be associated with hospice. Forms are available at area churches, Sunshine Foods, the Hospice office at 304 N. McKenzie Street, or call 507-283-1805.
 
19th Annual De-Light-Ful 5k Nov. 30

Advent Choral Vespers at St. Adrian
The choirs of Mount Marty College will present their annual Advent Choral Vespers program at St. Adrian at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. The program will include readings from scripture along with songs of the season. The program is free and open to the public.

You must be licensed to ride snowmobile anywhere in Minnesota.  Students ages 11 and older may register (prior to Nov. 13) for the Snowmobile Safety Outdoor Course to be held on Nov. 23.  It will be necessary to complete the online course ahead of the outdoor portion.  Go to www.snowmobilecourse.com/usa/minnesota.  Fee for the outdoor portion is $10.
Chartered Bus Trip Nov. 23 to see “Mamma Mia!” at the Chanhassen Theatre. Fee is $115
Throwing on a Pottery Wheel will be four evenings the week of Dec. 2.  Participants grades 9 and older may register and pay $40/fee plus a $10 material fee paid to the instructor.
Sharks in the Waters on Dec. 5 will teach you how to avoid the biggest dangers in estate planning.  Fee is $5.
Ozobots Unleashed on Dec. 9 is for students in grades 4 and 5 to learn design code using little toy robots.  Fee is $11.
Participants grade 5 through adult will get a basic intro at Hand Building Clay Class on Dec. 12 and 13.  Fee is $25, plus $5 material fee paid to instructor.
