Lady Luverne Red Hats will meet at 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 13, in the St. Catherine Church east parking lot to carpool to EROS in South Dakota. The event will include a tour of EROS and lunch at 212 Boiling Point in Brandon. RSVP to Connie, 283-8470, by May 9.

Sign up for bus trip to Guthrie Theater for “South Pacific”
Luverne Community Education is offering a trip to the Guthrie Theater Sunday, June 26, to see the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, “South Pacific.” Cost of $85 covers bus ride and theater ticket. For more details or to register, call 283-4724.
 
School choirs present spring pops concert May 13
The Luverne Middle School and High School choirs will present their spring pops concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, in the elementary gym.  The choirs will be singing and dancing to music from the ’50s and ’60s. Everyone is invited to attend. Admission is $6 for adults and $4 for students.  Activity passes will also be accepted.
 
Luverne Optimist sandbox fill
The Luverne Optimist Club will be sponsoring a youth sandbox fill Monday, May 16. Sand is donated by W&N Construction. For a sandbox fill, contact Audrey at 507-283-2018. Deliveries start at 6 p.m.
 
Community Bible Study for women begins June 8
The Luverne Christian Reformed Church invites all women in the area to a 7-week Bible study by Priscilla Shirer titled “The Armor of God,” beginning at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 8. To order a book, call 507-283-8726 by May 18.
 
Master Gardeners offer plants for sale May 21
Rock County Master Gardeners 12th annual plant sale will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 21, in the Bomgaars Parking Lot.
 
Community Ed
Registrations for many summer recreation sport activities are due by Thursday, May 19.  Be sure to sign up for morning recreation, basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis, arts and crafts, gymnastics, football, wrestling, track and field. Defensive Driving Refresher class meets May 19. Fee is $20 prepaid.
Yoga meets for six weeks on Tuesdays and Thurdays beginning May 24. Fee is $63.
Aerobics/Strength Combo class will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays for five weeks beginning May 31. Fee is $27.
Home Alone class for those who just finished third grade or older will be June 1. Tips on safety and how to deal with loneliness and boredom will be emphasized. Fee is $25.
Professional fisherman and guide Mike Frisch returns to Luverne to do a School of Fish Thursday, June 2, for children grade three and older (during the 15-16 school year) with an adult friend. Fee is $30 per child/adult pair. In addition to great fishing information and stories, each child will receive a new rod and reel, tackle with a tackle box, a fishing resource book, a $10 Cabela’s gift card, a T-shirt, snacks and a chance to be a guest on the television show “Fishing the Midwest.”
