Meetings
Eden Ladies Cemetery Association spring meeting will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the home of Bev Hunstad, Jasper, to discuss the Eden Church annual service at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 30.

St. John Lutheran VBS begins June 10
Area children are invited to participate in “Miraculous Mission: Jesus Saves the World,” the Vacation Bible School event at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, from 6:15-8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, June 10-13. An optional dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. each evening.

Generations invites public to annual fundraiser June 11
Generations (formerly Luverne Senior Citizens) will host their annual fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the Generations building at the corner of Lincoln and Spring streets. Menu is hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans and ice cream sundaes for $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and  under.
 
Free food giveaway June 20
New Life Celebration Church will offer free produce, bread and meat from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Generations building at 319 East Lincoln Street in Luverne for those having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags and boxes. Call 507-283-3466.
 
Register for VBS at Bethlehem
Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Hills will offer a free Vacation Bible School program titled “To Mars and Beyond” from Sunday, July 7, through Thurdsay, July 11, for children ages 3 through eighth grade. Classes will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with supper served every night.

Relay for Life set for June 13
The Rock County Relay for Life Block Party fundraiser for the American Cancer Society is planned for Thursday, June 13, from 5-9 p.m. at Take 16 Brewing in Luverne. The event includes a catered meal from 5:30-7 p.m. for a freewill donation, opening ceremonies at 7 p.m., along with other events, and a 5K glow run and a 1.5-mile walk at 9 p.m. See the ad on page 17 for details. 
 
Free Medicare classes
Free classes for people who are new to Medicare are offered the second and third Mondays every month at the Minnesota River Area on Aging, 1939 Engebretson Ave., Slayton.
In the first class, participants will learn basics of Medicare and their options. The second class teaches how to research these options using non-biased tools, such as the Medicare website and Medicare Plan Finder Tool.

Slime, goo, experiments—Reaction 2 Fun! Adventure Day Camp June 7 for grades 1–4 as attended during the past year.  Fee is $15.
“Crit Happens” at Coffey Contemporary Arts is for all practicing artists, ages 17 and older, to bring a completed work to be critiqued at the professional level with the large group.  Free of charge, but requires registration--call 283-4724. Meet at 7 p.m. on June 14, July 12, July 26, Aug. 9, Aug. 23
A Magical Musical Play offered at Luverne Street Music the week of June 17 needs student actors grades K-4 (as attended during the past school year) to help save the crops in this fun country-style garden hoedown!  Fee is $40
Hands-on Fun Project Day is for students who attended grades 3-7 during the 18-19 school year.  Students will choose three activities and may even complete a project that could be entered into the county fair.  Fee is $15 for this four-hour class on June 17.
Create a one-of-a-kind project at Chalk Couture on June 17.  Fee is $35.  Open to grade 7 through adult.
Nature Impressions participants (ages 3 to grade 3 and older as attended during 18-19 school year) will take a nature walk with Poplar Creek residents to gather items and then create beautiful impressions in clay on June 18.  Fee is $17.
