Meetings
The Generations organization will meet at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 1, at the Generations building at 319 E. Lincoln Street in Luverne.
Sanford Luverne Pink Ladies will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, in the Sanford Luverne Blue Mound Room. Program will be a tour of the Healing Gardens with George Bonnema. Call 283-2297 with questions.
 Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, in the township hall.
Lady Luverne Red Hats meetings are canceled until further notice due to health issues of members.
Hardwick Goal Seekers meet every Monday in Hardwick City Hall for the purpose of support and encouragement for weight loss journeys. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Call Glenda, 449-0568, with questions.
Women’s Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. Mondays in the United Methodist Church.
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays in the United Methodist Church, Luverne. Call 605-321-4324.

Rock River water trip set for June 29
Register now for the water trip down the Rock River Saturday, June 29. Cost is $25 per person or $40 with canoe or kayak. Trip includes transportation, breakfast and snack on the river. An “After Row” party will follow at Take 16. Rain date is July 6. Call the Luverne Chamber at 507-283-4061 or email luvernechamber@co.rock.mn.
 
Register for upcoming races
•Registration is open for the Davis Lake Triathlon on Thursday, July 4, at The Lake. The Minnow Race with 1/3-mile kayak, 2-mile bike and 1-mile run begins at 8:30 a.m. at The Lake. The Shark Race with 1/2-mile kayak, 9-mile bike and 2.5-mile run begins at 9:15 a.m. Register for all races at www.wienermanevents.com.
•Wienerman World Championships, a four-person relay with eating challenges, takes place on Hot Dog Night, Thursday, Julyi 11, in downtown Luverne at 7 p.m.
•Tour de Donut Minnesota is Saturday, July 13. The 55-mile race begins at 7 a.m. at Luverne City Park. The shorter routes begin at 8 a.m. at the park.
 
Register for VBS at Bethlehem
Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Hills will offer a free Vacation Bible School program titled “To Mars and Beyond” from Sunday, July 7, through Thurdsay, July 11, for children ages 3 through eighth grade. Classes will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with supper served every night.

St. John hosts two Medicare seminars
•The Senior LinkAge Line will offer a class for beginning internet users from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, July 15, at St. John Lutheran Church, 803 North Cedar Street, Luverne. The class is for adults who would like to learn the basics of operating a computer, how to use the internet and how to use email. Participants will also learn how to use www.medicare.gov website.
•A class to learn the basics of Medicare will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 15, at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. Participants will learn the basics of Medicare and their coverage options in Minnesota. The class size will be kept small to allow time for personal attention. Preregister by calling 507-283-2316. A free light supper will be provided by St. John beginning at 5:45 p.m.
 
Sign up for soccer league, coaches needed
Soccer league for ages 4 through grade 4 (end of 2019 school year) begins Aug. 6 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Early pay fee is $25 by June 27 for 10-session class. Call Michelle Dekam at 227-6125 if you can coach. Training will be provided.
 
Free Medicare classes
Free classes for people who are new to Medicare are offered the second and third Mondays every month at the Minnesota River Area on Aging, 1939 Engebretson Ave., Slayton.
In the first class, participants will learn basics of Medicare and their options. The second class teaches how to research these options using non-biased tools, such as the Medicare website and Medicare Plan Finder Tool.

Missoula Children’s Theatre returns to Luverne the week of July 8. There are spots for actors who who completed kindergarten through age 7 and two director openings for ages 12 to 18.
Pottery Wheel Throwing four-session class starts July 9. Fee is $40 plus $10 material fee for grades 9 through adult. 
Intro to Canning on July 9 will send you home with jars of summer goodness. Fee is $38 which includes a book and all supplies.
Have fun at Hey Diddle, Diddle Animal Fun Adventure Day Camp July 12 for completed grades 1 through 4. Fee is $15.
Clay Handbuilding is for students grades 7 through adult who will explore construction methods on July 17 and 24. Choose from morning or afternoon sessions. Fee is $27 plus a $10 materials fee.
