Meetings
Rock County Township Association annual meeting will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, (not Feb. 3 as previously posted) in the basement meeting room of the Rock County Community Library, Luverne.
Blue Mound Quilters will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at the Rock County Library in Luverne to carpool to Quilters’ Headquarters in Sioux Falls. Bring along January swap blocks. Call Debi Scholten, 507-283-9223, for information.
Lady Luverne Red Hats will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at The Bluestem, with bingo at 1:15 p.m. at the Veterans Home. Call Connie, 283-8470, for reservations by Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Generations offers afternoon activities
Generations will now be open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with activities and refreshments.
Planned for Thursday, Jan. 30, will be a ’50s music birthday gala/games. Monday Feb. 3 is the Generations membership meeting at 12:30 p.m. The Valentine’s Day activity will be music by Ron and Jane Cote on Friday, Feb. 14.
Generations encourages people to come and socialize and enjoy other games as well.
 
Brain Health series continues Feb. 6
The next class in the #Luv1LuvAll series of monthly Brain Health classes is from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, in at Luverne Community Education. The topic for Session 4 is “Healthy Relationships” led by Jason Mork, Luverne Counseling.
The goal of the Brain Health series is to end stigma about mental health and encourage conversations toward improved health, both physical and mental. Certificates of Attendance will be available. Sessions are free but registration is appreciated to plan for accommodations. Call 507-283-4724.
 
Dental health clinic Feb. 5
A dental health clinic for ages 0-26 will be at Rock County Health and Human Services at 2 Roundwind Road in Luverne on Tuesday, Feb. 5. Call 612-746-1530 to schedule an appointment, or stop at Rock County Health and Human Services for assistance in scheduling. Exams, X-rays, cleanings and more will be provided. All forms of insurance are accepted.
 
‘A Matter of Balance’ classes begin Feb. 4
A series of eight classes to develop better balance and reduce the fear of falling will be offered from 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays during February beginning Feb. 4 in the Rock County Library basement (accessible by elevator). Get Hooked Fishing Derby Feb. 8
Luverne’s Fifth Annual Get Hooked ice fishing tournament will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at The Lake in Luverne (815 West Edgehill). Registration ($25 for adults and $15 for youth) opens at 11:30 a.m. Concessions are sponsored by LHS Trap Team and the Beaver Creek Sportsman’s Club will be the official tournament judges. Raffle drawing for the 2020 Ice Castle will be at noon. Call the Chamber office, 507-283-4061, with questions.
 
Free tax help starting Feb. 10
Free tax preparation for all low-income and the elderly will be available at the Rock County Library starting Feb. 10 through April 15. Call 507-449-5040 for appointments.

Library hours are Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Luverne School students in grade 8 and older may register now for the Feb. 3 Student Driver Education class. The fee is $335. If openings remain in the class on Jan. 27, out-of-district students may register.
Defensive Driving refresher classes will be Jan. 27, March 26 and March 30.
Defensive Driving first-time class, an 8-hour class, will be offered in two sessions, April 20 and 27, four hours each evening.
Think summer! Students in grades K-12 sign up by March 27 for Summer Comm Ed softball, baseball, T-ball teams.  After March 27, registrations will be accepted only if there are openings, and a late fee of $50 will be applied.
