Bank Nite movie ‘The Addams Family’ Feb. 6
The free Bank Nite family movie, “The Addams Family” rated PG, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne.
Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win.
Generations activities
Generations will now be open from 1-4 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with activities and refreshments.
The Valentine’s Day activity on Friday, Feb. 14, will be music by Ron and Jane Cote.
Register by Feb. 14 for Generations first-ever Jigsaw Puzzle Tourney on Saturday, March 7.
 
Get Hooked fishing derby Feb. 8
Luverne’s Fifth Annual Get Hooked ice fishing tournament will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at The Lake in Luverne (815 West Edgehill). Registration ($25 for adults and $15 for youth) opens at 11:30 a.m. Concessions are sponsored by LHS Trap Team, and the Beaver Creek Sportsman’s Club will be the official tournament judges. Raffle drawing for the 2020 Ice Castle will be at noon. Call the Chamber office, 507-283-4061, with questions.
 
Free tax help starting Feb. 10
Free tax preparation for all low-income and the elderly will be available at the Rock County Library starting Feb. 10 through April 15. Call 507-449-5040 for appointments.

Free food giveaway Feb. 20
New Life Celebration Church will offer free produce, bread and meat from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at the Generations building at 319 East Lincoln Street in Luverne for those having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags and boxes. Call 507-283-4366.
 
Generations to host Jigsaw Puzzle Tourney
Generations’ first annual Jigsaw Puzzle Tourney will be Saturday, March 7. Morning session includes a solo division (300-piece puzzle) and a two-person division (500-piece puzzle) for all ages. Afternoon session will be a youth pair division and a youth-adult division. For entry forms and rules, stop at Generations at 319 E. Lincoln. Enry forms and fees must be received by Feb. 14. Luverne School students in grade 8 and older may register now for the Feb. 3 Student Driver Education class. The fee is $335.
Defensive Driving refresher classes will be March 26 and March 30.
Defensive Driving first-time class, an 8-hour class, will be offered in two sessions, April 20 and 27, four hours each evening.
Think summer! Students in grades K-12 sign up by March 27 for Summer Comm Ed softball, baseball, T-ball teams.  After March 27, registrations will be accepted only if there are openings, and a late fee of $50 will be applied.
Join the ECFE classes – a time for parents to create memories with their children ages 0-5. Staff prepare fun activities for children to do in the preschool rooms and present educational/ developmental information for parents.
