Blue Mound Cemetery Association will have a potluck Christmas party at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Dick and Dolly Remme home.
Battle Plain Township Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the home of Aaron Sandbulte.

Bell ringers wanted for Red Kettle

Holiday bus schedule
Community Transit buses operate on a different schedule through the holidays. County-wide services run from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Within the city of Luverne, service is from 8 a.m. to noon on Sundays. No service is offered Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Call 507-537-3861 with questions.
 
Food shelf announces holiday schedule
Holiday hours at the Rock County Emergency Food Shelf are from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26. The Food Shelf is located in the lower level of the United Methodist Church, Luverne.
 
Luverne choir concert Dec. 12
Luverne choir concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, in the high school gym. It will feature middle school and high school choirs and will conclude with a joint performance of “O Holy Night.” Admission is a monetary donation to the Luverne School Angel Fund, which helps students and families with outstanding lunch accounts.
 
Hardwick Santa Day Dec. 14
The Hardwick Community Club will host the annual Santa Claus Day from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Hardwick Legion Hall. The Zoo Man Show is first, followed by a cupcake walk, make and take treats and Christmas cookie decorating until 3:30 p.m. Pictures with Santa are from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. All events are free.
 
H-BC High School concert Dec. 16
Hills-Beaver Creek sixth- through twelfth-grade band and choir students will present a holiday concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the high school gymnasium in Hills.
 
Community Blood Bank in Adrian Dec. 16
The Community Blood Bank and Sanford Adrian Clinic will host a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, at the Adrian ambulance services building. Visit www.cbblifeblood.org or call 507-483-2668.
 
Red Cross announces area blood drives
The American Red Cross has scheduled two blood drives in December in the area.
•The Luverne blood drive is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Luverne High School.
•The Jasper blood drive is from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church at 101 Spicer Street in Jasper.
 Donors are reminded to bring a blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification. Go to RedCrossBlood.org or call 800-733-2767 for more information.
 
Nutrition Assistance Program Dec. 19
The Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors 60 and older, sponsored by A.C.E. of SW MN, will be from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Generations. Call Linda at 283-5064 with questions.
 
Free food Dec. 19
New Life Celebration Church will offer free food from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Generations building at 319  East Lincoln Street for those who are having trouble putting food on the table. Bring your own bags or boxes. Call 507-283-4366.
 
UMN ‘Cattle Feeder Days’ Dec. 19
The annual “Cattle Feeder Days” program will be offered at Grand Prairie Events in Luverne on Thursday, Dec. 19. Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 and program presentations following the dinner. Pre-registration cost is $15 at z.umn.edu/cattlefeederdays. Or cost is $20 at the door.
The program is directed at cattle feeders and allied industry representatives and is open to the public.
 
Free Christmas Eve meal at UMC
A free Christmas Eve meal will follow the 5 p.m. Candlelight Service at the United Methodist Church in Luverne Tuesday, Dec. 24. The church requests reservations by calling 507-283-4529, but reservations are not required. Approximate time of the dinner is 6:30 p.m.

Grades 5-6 Invitational Basketball Tournament will be Saturday, Jan. 25. Registration of girls’ and boys’ teams is now open. Forms are online on the Luverne Schools website under Community Ed current events.
