Luverne student registration appointments
New families in the Luverne School District are encouraged to register children for the 2020-21 school year. Call the high school at 507-283-4491 to set up an appointment. The District office is open; the elementary office can be reached at 507-283-4497.
 
Meals on Wheels continue in Jasper
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota (LSS) has provided Meals on Wheels in Jasper through the Sunrise Village, which is now closed. Going forward, meals will be prepared at the LSS Luverne site and delivered to Jasper City Hall twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays. There is also an option to add frozen meals for delivery with the hot meals.

Hospice memorial service Sept. 2
Sanford Luverne Hospice annual memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Luverne City Park.
The program will celebrate the lives of those cared for by the hospice program and will include a butterfly release.

Blue Mounds State Park cliff line clearing Aug. 29
Join the Friends of Blue Mounds group on Saturday, Aug. 29, in removing brush and invasive vegetation along the cliff line for the Sept. 12 youth climbing event.
Bring your own hand tools, work gloves and eye protection (if possible).
Registration will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. in the climbers’ parking lot. A mid-morning snack of donuts will be provided for volunteers.

Cliffline climbing
Luverne Community Education will offer Cliffline Climbing for Grades 4-12 taught by Roca Climbing and Friends of Blue Mound State Park.
Morning and afternoon sessions will be Sept. 12. There is no charge, but registration required. Call 507-283-4724. Use the waiver/registration form from the website to register for all classes.  
 
History Center open with limited hours
The Rock County History Center is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday starting June 2. Some safety precautions — with masks and gloves available — will be in place to protect against the spread of coronavirus. The phone number is 507-283-2122.
