Bank Night movie ‘The Peanuts Movie’ Nov. 2

The free Bank Nite movie, “The Peanuts Movie,” rated PG, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne.

Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win.

 

Road open from Manley to I-90

County Highway 17 (20th Avenue) between Manley and I-90 is now open to traffic after the completion of a new bridge over the Beaver Creek. Call Mark Sehr at 507-283-5010 with questons.

 

County Highway 55 closed

County Highway 55 (170th Avenue), 0.3 mile south of County Highway 16, is closed for the construction of a new bridge over Elk Creek. The construction of the new bridge will continue possibly through January. Call County Engineer Mark Sehr at 507-283-5010 with questions.

 

Minnesota West Luverne site celebrates 10 years Nov. 6

Minnesota West Community and Technical College Luverne Center will host a 10-year anniversary celebration from 2-4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6. The public is invited for tours of the center and refreshments.

Enter turkey raffle with advance directive

From now until Nov. 15, Sanford Luverne Medical Center will offer a turkey raffle ticket to anyone who drops off a completed Advance Directive at the Sanford Luverne valet/volunteer desk in the front lobby. The drawing for two turkeys donated by Teal’s will be Thursday, Nov. 16. The clinic will make a copy of any originals. Patients and Sanford employees are also eligible to win.

Operation Christmas Child boxes available

Operation Christmas Child boxes have arrived in Luverne. Anyone wishing to send gifts to underprivileged children can pick up a box at the American Reformed Church south entrance where there will be more information about how to support a child for Christmas. Reserve for St. John 125th Anniversary dinner by Nov. 5

St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne will celebrate the 125th anniversary of their founding on Sunday, Nov. 12, with special guest speaker Rev. Dr. Larry Stoterau. “One Warm Coat” distribution will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, and from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at ATLAS for Life.

Luverne Elementary second- and fourth-graders will celebrate the spirit of our American pioneers when they present their music program, “Go West” at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in the Cardinal Gym. The public is invited to attend.

 

‘Self Care for the Caregiver’ workshop

A workshop, “Self Care for the Professional Caregiver,” will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Nov. 9, in Grand Prairie Events, Luverne, for anyone working in healthcare, residential or long-term care, pastoral care, funeral care, law enforcement or any service in caregiving. Hardwick Veterans Day banquet Nov. 11

The Hardwick American Legion Veterans Day Banquet will be Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Legion Hall.  Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with a dinner at 6:30 p.m. A program will follow featuring guest  speaker  Richard May of Luverne, first sergeant combat veteran, U.S. Army Retired Ranger. All are welcome.
