The Blue Mound Quilters will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 5, at the Luverne Public Library for a potluck supper followed by show and tell.  Bring an old quilt or a favorite one.

The Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, at the home of Teresa Kramer.

Parkinson’s Support Group will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 8, at the Rock County Library. Note the new location.

Lady Luverne Red Hats will meet at China Inn, Luverne, for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, followed by cards at St. Catherine Centennial Room. Call Connie, 283-8470. Sanford Luverne Pink Ladies will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the Blue Mound Room at Sanford Luverne Hospital.

Rock County VFW 2757 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, in the Rock County Veterans Memorial Building.

Hardwick Goal Seekers meet every Monday in Hardwick City Hall for the purpose of support and encouragement for weight loss journeys. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Call Glenda, 449-0568, with questions.

Registration is open for summer reading program

Rock County Community Library will offer the 2017 summer reading program, “Reading  By Design,” which includes reading and participating in programs. Call the library at (507) 449-5040, to register. The summer reading program is open to ages pre-K through 12th grade.

 

Hinkly House open Thursdays

The Hinkly House will be open from 2 to 4 p.m. every Thursday during the summer beginning June 1.

 

Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast June 2

The fifth annual Men’s Community Prayer Breakfast will be at 6:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, at the Grand Prairie Events with breakfast catered by The Bluestem. Speaker will be Dave Haugom. Cost is $10 at the door.

 

Remax balloon rides

REMAX Land and Home will offer tethered balloon rides from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, at The Lake in Luverne, weather permitting, to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.

 

VBS at St. John June 5-8

All children ages 3 through sixth grade are invited to register for  “Mighty Fortress” Vacation Bible School at St. John Lutheran Church from June 5-8. The evening sessions begin with a meal from 5:30-6 p.m. and activities from 6:15-8:30 p.m.

Community Blood Bank drive June 5

Tonic Sol-fa returns to Palace June 6

The well-known a cappella vocal group Tonic Sol-fa will perform once again at the Palace Theatre in Luverne at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 6. General admission tickets are $25 and are available in advance at the Palace Theatre box office or at the door.

 

Master Gardeners Tour June 10

The Rock County Master Gardeners annual garden tour will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 10, at the Harold and Mary Tilstra farm. South Dakota Department of Agriculture forestry specialist and SDSU professor John Ball will offer expert information on trees and shrubs that grow well in southwest Minnesota. Cost is $10 if paid by June 7, otherwise $15.

Father’s Day bus trip to Twins game June 18

Luverne Community Education is offering a chartered bus trip to see the Minnesota Twins vs. Cleveland Indians game June 18. Cost is $88 per person for the bus and the game. Call 283-4724 with questions.
